My first breakthrough into the punk potential of public art. Late one night I painted a series of fires up and down the cold post-modern stairways at Cooper Union. A harmless drunken art school prank, I figured, but it turned into a big deal and I got into a lot of trouble. Which resulted in a lot of attention. Which really got me thinking...
